Our gas cooktop is finally all hooked up and working. My God, I just found out what it cost to run the gas lines to this side of the house, the lines are not at all cheap. If you build a house, make sure you keep ALL mechanicals & appliances running on gas close together, this way you do not have to run long gas lines.

Moving on Up to the West Side

Jim Emmons the building of Dale’s town inspector gave his permission to start officially moving into the house! Truth be told we have been moving stuff to the house for sometime now, but never with an intention to move in ourselves.
Well, we took out one truckload today, but it was a big one! We moved a bed, a freezer, a clothes-washer, a dryer, a table, chairs, a couch, a bed-frame, two dressers,, a large number of boxes, etc, so-on, ganoon, ganoon, ganoon.
I have pictures but they are in my camera at the house. The gas-cooktop cooks, the beam is up, the couch we bought late winter is now in the living room upsairs, the china cabinet is in its place, the secretary has a nice new home, we have seating in the main room in the basement.
Best of all we had a minor lunch today at the house. I bought bread & hard rolls, ham, hard salami, provolone, tomatoes, onion, lettuce (and brought miracle whip). We got to the house, Lorie cut up the vegetation and we all had a sandwich or two, I had mine on the hardrolls (I have not had a hardroll sandwich in sometime, usually I use hardrolls for travelling sandwiches). In addition, cold Miller Lites, Coca-Cola, and Seven Ups.
Our stand up freezer is also defrosted and reloaded.
BTW, I engage in a sillyism in this article, what is it?
To the people in Ireland who wish they were here to be with us, we were thinking of you and miss you, but Brian and I know what you are up to and want you all to enjoy it all to the fullest! Enjoy and have a pint of vitamin G for us!

The Gutty-Wutties!

You are looking at the gutty-wutties of the upper convection oven in our wall oven. I am anxious to break it in. What do you suggest we bake in it first? I am thinking of breaking out my pizza making supplies and make a homemade pizza, does anyone have a good Italian sausage recipe? I have the crust and the sauce down but still end up buying the Italian sausage and pepperoni.

Cooking with Gas (almost)!

Our gas cooktop is installed, but not yet connected to the gas supply. Brian (and I today) tracked down installation directions and Brian came down and installed the cooktop. Tomorrow a qualified person comes to connect the gas.After that, there is nothing standing between us and our occupancy permit! Yeah! In addition to that Brian performed a bunch of other things needing to be done, mostly along the lines of finish carpentry.
In addition, our painter came to perform touchups.

Cooking with Electricity

This is not the kitchen, but the utility room instead. You see my wife likes something called tuyo which is dried & salted ocean fish.When she fries it, a very powerful odor is created, so to help isolate the odor we had this cooktop (bought for $10.00 at a rummage sale) installed and the hood was picked up on the cheap as well. There is a ceiling fan to suck the odors out as much as possible too.I need to teach her about soaking a rolled up towel and sealing the door with the wet towel. My guess is the window will be open too, even in the dead of winter!
The cooktop is functional, I wiped it off today and turned on each burner and it works. Of course, this will be used for more than just tuyo!

The air conditioner is also installed. I have it out for a spin on days like today, it has its work cut out for it! With all the south & west windows we have it really is going to be a struggle for it to keep things cool. Oh well, we complain during the cold of winter so why not enjoy the warmth?

Went to the Barroom, Ordered Drinks for All

Now we are downstairs.
We are looking at the landing of the stairs. That darned pole! Unfortunately, it is structural so we need it, ideas on what to do with are appreciated. My idea is to have that the edge of a future bar. In any event, you can see the new carpeting, makes a huge difference!

J&K Flooring stopped by again yesterday and put down the carpeting in the basement. The upper flight of stairs is carpeted and then the basement floor is, at least the main room below.
